I’m not typically an all-inclusive kind of travel girl, but when I’m working and playing it’s a great option for the ease of just having everything you want at the tip of your fingers. I flew down to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with fellow filmmaker friend Fredrik to plan out some other 2017 adventures and also just relax and check out the Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa. Below you’ll find my favorite highlights, experiences, and on property amenities throughout our stay at the hotel.

We were able to check out all types of accommodations from the Adults only area of the resort to little villa type rooms. The Swim Up Junior Suite was my fast favorite. Each one has a darling little white leather cabana outside on the deck and just below a shared-with-your-handful-of-neighbors infinity pool that matches the oceanfront views. It comes with a stocked fridge of cold beers, room service is available 24-7, and a beautiful open bathtub and double sinks. And the in-room wifi was great – so good I was able to film a live tour of the suite – you can watch it here.
There are 8 pools on the property to dive into. I think we tested out four of them. I loved the one with the hammock island in the middle. Perfect for a midday nap under the palms! If you’re a night owl, there’s also a secret pool that stays open late till 1 am each night.
A surprising element I loved about the stay was the live music popping up around the property. When we were in the pool one afternoon a saxophonist just came over and started playing for a good 15 minutes. Also, a beautiful pop–violinist was at dinner one evening when we had French food and she also played one evening in the hotel lobby.
The main lobby in the Royal Turquesa Adults Only has a room with orchids all along the wall, white leather couches. That and details in other spaces like white swings, hanging stones, and sheer curtains made me love the muted color palate of the rooms. But I do love color…so much…so my personal favorite was the decor of the Indian restaurant, Bhogali.
You can book tours off property where you’ll be with a larger group of people – we did this to try SNUBA – a cross between scuba diving and snorkeling. It’s such a great option for someone who wants to learn to dive but hasn’t quite mustered up the courage yet…like me! You only make your way down to about 12-15 feet.
For a more private option (my favorite way to explore), you don’t even need to leave the property to get some fun action and adventure sports. I loved trying Wind Surfing for the first time. It’s something I had always wanted to do and I even got the hang of it right away! My instructor was super helpful in giving me the confidence to hop right up and go. Wind surfing lessons typically last about three hours long.
Fredrik went out on a Catamaran while I followed along the adventure with my drone. I loved seeing this perspective from above! The water is a perfect turquoise – best views are from a birds-eye.
After all the activity I was very much looking forward to exploring Zenotropia SPA which turned out to be my favorite space on the entire property. Pre-treatment, they bring you into a room with a bunch of waterbeds that vibrate and you’re in control of choosing the remote setting on how you’ll relax for ten minutes or so leading up to your treatment.
The treatment rooms were soothing and beautiful with low blue toned lighting. The room I was in had a beautiful shower and big bathtub in the back.
Fredrik got too much sun the first day so he opted for a soothing aftersun treatment while I had a fabulous massage. Post treatment or for anytime relaxing without booking an in-room treatment, there are plenty of hydrotherapy options.
Other interesting in room treatment offerings are floating and crystal therapy.
Our three night stay at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa was filled with so many different types of experiences. I’m sure that you’d find something that suits you here in the Dominican Republic.
